About the event

Kirtan gatherings are devotional events that bring people together to sing and chant sacred mantras in a call-and-response format. The practice of kirtan originates from ancient Hindu traditions but has been adapted and adopted by many different spiritual communities around the world.

The atmosphere is often vibrant and energetic, with participants singing, clapping, and dancing as they connect with the divine through music and song. Kirtan gatherings can be a powerful tool for individuals seeking to deepen their spiritual practice, connect with like-minded people, and experience the transformative power of devotional music.

Join us on Sunday September 3rd for a community kirtan gathering followed by prasadam - food which is typically vegetarian or vegan food that has been offered to a deity in a religious ritual, blessed, and then distributed to devotees as a form of grace. The food is considered to be sanctified and purifying, and is often shared among participants in a spiritual gathering as a way of fostering a sense of community and connection. Prasadam food can include a variety of items such as rice, vegetables, fruits, sweets, and other vegetarian or vegan dishes. It is often prepared with great care and devotion, and is believed to have a spiritual potency that nourishes not only the body but also the soul.

Kirtan will be led by Bhaktimarga Swami aka The Walking Monk and the Hamilton Bhakti-Yoga Community.

** Donations are accepted and all are welcome. No experience necessary.
