So’ham Studio — Science-Based Yoga, Rooted in Community
At So’ham Studio, we create more than just yoga classes — we offer a grounded path to clarity, strength, and connection for students in Hamilton and beyond. Our practice blends modern science-based teachings with ancient Hatha methods to help you align body, breath, and awareness.

Why We're Different
The SOMA Method — Founded by Dr. Jivasu
Dr. Jivasu’s physician‑developed SOMA system combines neuroscience with traditional yoga. This gives you tools to move smarter, breathe deeper, and become clearer from the inside out.
Diverse & Accessible Classes
From Hatha, Sivananda, Ashtanga, Yin, and Kundalini to Deham Yoga and Nada practice — we offer a full spectrum of yoga styles, each grounded in mindfulness and evidence-based approaches.
A Welcoming Community
With small class sizes and intuitive teaching, our studio is a space for support, exploration, and personal transformation. Everyone is welcome — regardless of experience or ability.

Meet the Teachers

Dr. Jivasu
Jivasu is the founder of Deham Yoga and the visionary behind the Soma teachings—a science- and Ayurveda-based path for healing trauma, awakening the body’s wisdom, and realizing one’s true self. A pediatrician from India, Jivasu served with his wife Karen, a Canadian physician, in the Himalayan villages for over a decade before studying acupuncture and mind-body medicine in Sri Lanka, Canada, and Harvard Medical School.
He has taught yoga, meditation, and mind-body practices across India, Canada, and beyond, and authored several books, including Soma, Naturality, and Meditation: The Art and Science of Relaxation and Awareness.

She’s passionate about sharing practices that have deeply impacted her own journey, creating space for others to grow, ground, and thrive.

Tim Smith
In the early 2000s, Tim developed a consistent home yoga practice, drawing on books and his background in movement and energy from his youth as a martial arts enthusiast.
In 2011, he discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, which inspired him to pursue a Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) at Toronto’s Downward Dog Yoga Studio under the guidance of Ron Reid. Upon completing his training, Tim began assisting in the Mysore program at Downward Dog.
In 2015, he made his first journey to KPJAYI—now Sharath Yoga Center—in Mysore, India, to study with Sharath Jois, the grandson of Ashtanga yoga founder K. Pattabhi Jois. While in India, Tim also studied with BNS Iyengar, one of the few remaining students of Krishnamacharya, a pioneer of modern yoga.
Tim’s teaching blends tradition with evolution, fostering an open dialogue with students to support their individual progress. His classes incorporate verbal and visual cues, along with hands-on adjustments, to cultivate growth and balance for both novice and advanced practitioners.
With well over 1000 hours of training and many years of dedicated practice and teaching in the Ashtanga and Hatha traditions, Tim brings depth, experience, and insight to his instruction.

Kristen Pawlick
Kristen blends Somatic Hatha Yoga, massage therapy, athletic therapy, and neurofunctional acupuncture to offer mindful, body-aware movement rooted in nervous system regulation and functional strength. With deep expertise in anatomy and rehabilitation, her classes invite a slower, intentional pace—helping students connect to sensation, breath, and presence. She’s excited to share her practice and grow with the So’ham community.

Anna Muzzin
Anna is a KPJAYI/SYC Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga instructor and founder of Steeltown Ashtanga, Hamilton’s long-standing traditional Mysore-style program since 2013. Deeply rooted in the Parampara (lineage) of the Ashtanga method, Anna creates a safe and compassionate space for students to explore disciplined self-practice with care and integrity.
Beyond the mat, she’s a mother, ceramicist, and lifelong teacher who believes the “little y” yoga we do in the room shapes the “big Y” yoga we live in the world—bringing mindfulness, resilience, and presence into everyday life.
