Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga that was developed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and T. Krishnamacharya in the early 20th century. Designed specifically for house-holders; regular people who have limited time to dedicate to practice. It is a dynamic, flowing style that connects the movement of the body with the breath. The method stresses the importance of a daily practice of a set series of movements. There are six series of Ashtanga yoga sequences, although most of us spend our whole lives working on the first one called the Primary Series. You can expect to do the same sequence of postures every time you attend this class. You will slowly build on your practice with regular attendance. There are lots of modifications for both beginners and advance students alike.
